Over the summer, several new businesses were established in downtown Henniker.
Love, Art, Jewelry, and Beads is a new small jewelry business owned and operated by Kris Nordland.
“I love creating art so I have stuff here I’ve made, like jewelry or paintings,” Nordland said.
The store is filled with premade jewelry of every color and has a huge selection of beads, strings, and wires for people to come in and craft their own creations.
“I love upcycling, like anything I bought here, I got from somewhere else. And, I have a bead shop, so I can teach people how to bead, have kids come in and make something, or anybody can come in and make something.”
Two existing Henniker businesses have been flipped by new owners. The former location of Gin Gins is now Buffalo Bo’s, a barbeque restaurant. The building is under construction and will be a restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating. In a recent Buffalo Bo’s Facebook post, the owner said the open date is expected later this year.
The coffee shop that was Abigail’s Café and Bakery is now the Henniker Café. The café made a quick turnaround, renovating and opening with new menu items and a new staff in just a few months. The owners offer a 10% discount for NEC students.
“I think that the layout and new setup is pretty cool, and they added a couple new things to the menu. I think it’s just different,” said Kacey Mcclay, a junior at NEC.
Tim Buckley, a Henniker resident and regular customer, said he’s pleased with the changes and hopes to see some later hours and special events.
“They started doing some pizza one night and I really enjoyed it so, I might like to see more of that,” Buckley said.
