Independent water samples taken from campus did not show elevated levels of lead, according to a campus-wide email sent Monday afternoon by Jason Buck, Dean of Students. Nearly two weeks ago, Buck sent an email stating that two of 14 samples in Henniker showed higher-than-normal levels of lead. In that same email, Buck stated that the school would be collecting samples from several locations on campus.

“These results give additional independent confirmation that the drinking water supply to the campus community is safe for consumption and cooking,” Buck wrote in the email.

Henniker town officials say that the elevated lead levels found in those initial samples were isolated to two locations in Henniker. The town also stated that the elevated levels are due to plumbing or service lines, not the town water supply.
