Campus Safety is reminding students to follow parking rules on campus to ensure that drivers can park in their designated lots.

“Plan ahead since parking here is limited, park responsibly and be respectful of the rules and each other,” said Gregory Pepper, Director of Campus Safety.

Pepper also said it is important to have a parking pass since the parking here is so limited.

“Residents, commuters, and faculty staff all need passes because we need some type of organization in our parking structure to make sure everyone has a place to park,” he said.

Campus Safety has been patrolling lots to issue warnings and tickets, Pepper said.

“Typically, at the beginning of the semester, we like to issue warnings, but as the semester goes on into full swing, more parking citations are issued,” he said.

Anyone that has received a citation has the option to appeal the ticket.

“There’s a couple of different ways students can appeal their parking tickets. If you come down to the Campus Safety Office there is a QR code that you can scan, and it will take you right to the appeals form,” Pepper said. “You only have five days after you get the ticket to be able to appeal the ticket, and sometimes students don’t understand that they only have that five day window. If they wait until the end of the semester or the beginning of a new one, you will not be able to appeal the ticket.”

The map of approved parking locations can be found on the NEC website.
