The NEC women’s ice hockey team hosted the nationally ranked Cadets of Norwich University for two games on January 30 and 31. It was a tough weekend for the ‘Grims, playing back to back against the Cadets that rank number six in the nation.
The Cadets took both the wins, defeating the ‘Grims 14-1 Friday and 11-0 Saturday.
Despite the losses, NEC students turned out to support their ‘Grims.
Tatum Golis, NEC student-athlete, said she enjoys supporting NEC through it all.
“I enjoy coming to the games because I think it’s fun to support my friends who are on the team, but also support the ‘Grims no matter what sport they’re playing or what season it is,” Golis said.
NEC student-athlete and ‘Grims fan, Quirina Bennett, said she likes to show up for her friends no matter what.
“A lot of the girls on the team are my friends and I love just being able to come and cheer them on and just be of support as much as I can,” Bennett said.
The women’s hockey team is five and 15 overall and four and 10 in conference. They exclusively have conference games remaining in the schedule.
The ‘Grims will host Framingham University in Henniker on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
