The New England College’s men’s and women’s ski team had their final race of the season on Feb. 8-9, 2025, at Pats Peak Ski Area.

The NEC Invitational included teams from St. Joseph’s College of Maine, UMaine-Farmington, the University of Maine, Colby-Sawyer College, and Bowdoin University. The women’s team placed third to qualify for the USCSA Eastern regionals held at Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett, Maine next weekend on Sat, Feb. 15.

“I’m feeling good. It’s exciting to be at a home race, and I love GS [Giant Slalom] skiing so I’m feeling good,” said Grad student Malin Alusic Bingham.

Bingham had the fastest run of the day Saturday and gained her fourth first place finish of the season.

“It’s been really, really enjoyable. The team is super supportive. And I took a four-year break between high school and now being back. So, it’s been fun to be back in the sport,” she said.

The NEC Invitational is the ‘Grims’ only home race of the season and it’s one the team looks forward to, according to Colin Shaw, a graduate student who placed 24th.

“I feel really good. It’s glad to have the last race at home, and the surface is amazing. So can’t complain about that,” he said. “Both teams have had a good season. Everybody’s had a really good race here and there, and we’ve put together a season.”
