The New England College Women’s Wrestling team had a strong finish to the regular season as each member qualified for regionals.

Jaclyn Dehney had an undefeated regular season with a record of 22-0.

The team was established last year and member Karime Camarena-Tejeda said they’re still seeing improvement every practice and match.

“I think all of us have made really big strides from the beginning of the season till now,” she said. “I still feel like we have some room for improvement but everyday we’re getting better.”

Even though wrestling is played individually, the team is still very team oriented; they condition together, practice together, and learn off of each other, she said.

“We go through everything together: all the difficult conditioning, all the practice partners being switched around, and we bounce off each other to learn from one and another,” Camarena-Tejeda said. “This helps us individually as well just for overall improvement.”

The hard work and dedication is showing because all the women qualified for regionals this season. NEC Women’s Wrestling ended their regular season 5-9 as they’re preparing for regionals Feb. 22.
