According to the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston, Anthony Beaulieu of NEC Men’s Hockey has been named as a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award.
The Joe Concannon Award is presented to the best American-born NCAA DII or DIII hockey player in the New England region. Beaulieu is Freshman goalie from Lawrence, MA and a graduate of Valley Warriors.
When asked how he felt when he found out he was nominated for this award, Beaulieu said he is thankful for his teammates.
“It’s pretty cool… I think the biggest thing is – I wouldn’t be here without my teammates. They make my job as easy as possible throughout the night to succeed every game, so I wouldn’t be there without them,” Beaulieu said.
Beaulieu has had a successful individual first season as a ‘Grim and he has gained support from fellow NEC students, players, and fans.
“It’s pretty cool to know that you’re kind of recognized on the campus, but at the same time I hate to leave my teammates out. They’re a big staple too,” Beaulieu said. “They support me every night and they’re always getting people to cheer me on and congratulate me. At the end of the day, if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have what I have right now.”
The men’s hockey team is set to play #3 Babson College at 4 p.m. on March 1, 2025 in Babson Park, MA.
