Renovations to the New England College (NEC) athletic center building are expected to be completed during the spring term, according to Dave Decew, NEC’s Athletic Director.

The construction began in February of 2025, but expanding and updating the facilities has been a discussion for about 20 years, Decew said.

The new building includes modern offices for coaches, an expanded strength lab, a new community fitness center, updated locker rooms, and sports medicine rooms. Construction is expected to be completed and ready to use by late February or early March, Decew said.

“They have made tremendous progress. The new addition is really close and they’re telling us that maybe by the end of February, and certainly March, that that area’s going to be up and ready to go,” he said.

A grand opening and a ribbon cutting will be announced in the coming weeks.
