March Madness is considered one of the most entertaining times of the year for sports. It is when the best 64 college basketball teams in the country play in one tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA basketball.
Every year, an estimated 60-100 million brackets are submitted, all with one common goal. A perfect bracket. This year, if you manage to get a perfect bracket, Warren Buffet is offering 1 billion dollars. A perfect bracket has never been achieved before so that’s why the reward is so high.
A couple of students here at NEC have given their insight on who they think will win March Madness.
Kalie Villagomez is rolling with the 3 seed Michigan State Spartans, “ I think Michigan State is going to win because Draymond Green used to go there.”
Oscar Keresey likes the BYU Cougars, a 6 seed, “I got BYU because of my boy AJ”, referring to NBA projected number 1 pick, AJ Dybantsa.
Parker Dube likes the Cougars also, but this time it’s the Houston Cougars, “I’m taking the University of Houston, a great defensive team, looking to overpower you on offense when they get going, and they have a lot of experience looking to come back after last year’s loss.”
It’s safe to say all of these teams on paper look like they have a real chance at becoming the next national champion. Once it hits March anything becomes possible so expect some upsets, great games, broken hearts.
