New England College offers a pre-college program at the Institute of Art and Design during the month of July where students work with faculty and earn college credit.

The classes are capped at 10 students to allow for interaction with faculty. Students have access to the Art Village at the Institute of Art and Design at New England College, featuring state-of-the-art studio facilities.

“I was able to work closely with professors and utilize the resources provided by pre-college programs, which was a game-changer,” said Desmond Hossfeld, who attended the pre-college program in the summer of 2025.

Students can commute or live on campus for the two week program that runs July 12–25. Students can earn four college credits.

“It was incredible to experience the college vibe of the campus,” Hossfeld said.

Some of the program goals are to develop students’ personal artistic practices and build a portfolio, according to the webpage. The program is $2,300 for commuters and $3,300 with a living and meal plan.

“It definitely helped me make my decision about which schools to apply to and narrowed down my options. It also solidified my desire to become a NEC Pilgrim,” Hossfeld said.
