On September 26, New England College will be holding a vaccination clinic in the Simon Great Room from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The clinic is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members.

The clinic is being sponsored by the NEC Wellness Center and Shaw’s Pharmacy, who will be providing the vaccines for the flu, COVID-19 and required 2nd dose of said vaccines for students 19 years and older that require it.

If you wish to attend the clinic, it is recommended that you sign up before Thursday, Sept. 26, via a QR code that can be found on fliers around campus, or via email.

Once the QR code is scanned, it will ask you questions regarding your name, address, and what vaccine you want. If you don’t sign up beforehand, you can still show up. Students who choose to come must bring their insurance information and insurance card.

Jessica Hull, a nurse practitioner and medical director at the wellness center, explained the importance of this clinic. “We receive free vaccines for anyone who is 18 or younger so that we can help you get the vaccinations you need to come to college, but we don’t get free vaccines for anyone 19 and above because we live in a rural place there’s not a lot of options to get vaccines, so we want to bring the options to the students,” Hull said. “It’s important to get these vaccines to protect yourself from some of the diseases that are very dangerous.”

If you cannot make it to the clinic but still wish to get a vaccine, it is recommended that you go to any pharmacy including CVS, Rite Aid, or Walgreens if you are 19 or older. If you are 18 or younger, you can get your vaccine at the wellness center. However as of now, they do not carry the flu or COVID-19 vaccine, but they do carry others.

“I students to know that we are open and here to answer any questions you might have about staying healthy and to also help you get the vaccines you need and to make sure you’re safe throughout your college career,” said Hull.

If you need help or have questions about any of the vaccines, you can always call the wellness center at 603-428-2253. To stay well and healthy the Wellness Center recommends you eat healthy, stay active and sleep well.
