Liz Brennan, who has worked for New England College for over a decade has left NEC. Brennan has been a Henniker resident for over twenty years, so she definitely has grown some roots in the area. When Brennan first got here, she started working in Academic Affairs for the dean of graduate and undergraduate studies before things shifted, giving her the opportunity to work for the Vice President of Academic Affairs. After receiving her master’s degree, she fell in love with advising.

Brennan says when she made the switch to advising she made a lot of connections. “I connected a lot with the freshman here. As I grew into my role I definitely was more confident with what I was doing, and I started working with the women’s basketball team, and that was great because then I got to know the students there, and the student athletes being able to work on their class schedules, attendance, watching their games was awesome, and I felt the comradery.”

When asked what would be her final advice to give to students for after she’s gone she said it’s important to take ownership.

“Be proactive with your education, check your DegreeWorks, make sure you’re taking the classes and credits you need to graduate, stay in touch with your faculty advisors, with all the faculty, teachers that you have. They are the professionals, and they know what’s best for you.”
