Reviving Bloom by Michelle Turner is an intense supernatural love story. When the heroine Bloom Daniels was born, her mother abandoned her, but her dad was there to take care of and love her. When she was a young adult her father passed away in a car wreck. During the year, she was mourning over her father’s death, she never thought her heart would feel whole again, until Pike.

Pike is a werewolf and the alpha of his pack. One day he went out for a run and caught a scent of his mate. When Pike found her, he ran towards her house, but doesn’t get too far. A bear trap snapped onto his paw. While Bloom was outside, she heard an animal howling and ran to find it. She discovered a large wolf stuck in a trap and decided to take it in. When Pike is welcomed into her home, he decides to stay in wolf form. He wanted to wait until he knew she was ready to know he was a werewolf but the world had other ideas for them. One day, Bloom got into an accident forcing Pike to come out of his wolf form to save her. Let’s just say it was a lot for Bloom to take in that her pet was human. On top of that, Bloom finds out she might not be normal, so with Pike’s help she goes on a hunt looking for her mother to find some answers.

This book is written from Bloom and Pike’s points of view. It was nice having two different points of view; the readers get more information when it switches from Bloom’s to Pike’s perspectives. In Bloom’s head, the reader sees how she’s dealing with learning about werewolves and her feelings towards her mate. When the reader is in Pike’s head, they get to see his thoughts when he is in wolf form. I like being in his head when he is a wolf because it shows what he is thinking and what wolf senses would be. It’s interesting reading about a human’s point view, but a provocative change to read from the perspective of the wolf.

Turner did a fine job writing this book, bringing characters to life with a compelling style; the book flowed well. Turner put a lot of details within Bloom and Pike, making them stand out from the other characters. She made Bloom a strong headed person, good willed, and very understanding person. With Pike, she made him to be protective of the ones he loves, strong, and thick headed. Turner made them feel like real people that you could connect with.

Turner also did a good job writing about how a werewolf would act when they find their mate, adding a lot of detail on how a werewolf would look and act. When the reader first encounters Pike, she describes what he looks like through actions, instead of telling us directly. Turner took on the challenge of writing from an animal’s point view, mixing animal and human thoughts together. Turner writes, “Once she has it bandaged up to rub my muzzle against her hand…. Her touch has a soothing effect on my wolf, I’m not sure if it’s a mate thing or Bloom thing.” Here she shows what an animal and human would be thinking together.

Reviving Bloom is different from other werewolf books, because Turner makes the wolf more realistic. In other werewolf books, they do not have a story. There is usually just focus on the romance and do not make wolves realistic. I would recommend it to young adults. On Amazon Reviving Bloom costs $ 3.99 and it’s 454 pages. It came out on October 3, 2012 and the author is Michelle Turner.
